Readied
Submitted by nato on Sun, 02/14/2010 - 11:25I don't fear dying before I'm old,
for I have lived while I'm young.
The Olympics don't bother me; why should St. Valentine's day? Whatever hate-ons or rants I have for things, I develop out of passion; out of pleasure. I grieve and rage because I want to. I have not just taken responsibility for these things. I have seized them. But we all have to tread the line carefully between taking responsibility for our own interior phenomena in order to avoid victimizing ourselves with learned helplessness, and creating a knee-jerk addiction for a false feeling of self-ownership when we are in fact being victimized by something beyond our control.
Today, I am well. Maybe my depressive fits & starts over the last two months have been caused by loneliness, but a HOLIDAY sure isn't going to cause it. There is a sense that it was "just a chemical imbalance". I've been clear of it for at least a week now. I would experiment further, but it makes no sense to duplicate the initial conditions.
And Spring is winding. Winter is losing.

We Be Thee - Yo
Submitted by nato on Wed, 01/06/2010 - 13:51"We are one" is grammatically incorrect. Using the plural verb in reference to a plural subject later designated as singular in the predicate seems to indicate that the speaker does not take their assertion seriously.
The correct phrase, then, would be "We AM one."
